Borsa di studio Donald M. Wilson

Nel 2011, il Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights ha istituito la borsa di studio Donald M. Wilson, rivolto a giovani laureati. Donald Wilson e la sua famiglia hanno riconosciuto il bisogno di maggior sostegno ai neo laureati che intendono rivolgersi al servizio pubblico e hanno quindi generosamente finanziato la borsa di studio al RFK Center.

La borsa di studio porta il nome di un giornalista che sviluppò una profonda amicizia con Robert Kennedy durante la campagna presidenziale di John F. Kennedy. Corrispondente per LIFE per dodici anni, Donald Wilson ha coperto le guerre di Corea e in Vietnam per il settimanale e successivamente ha guidato l’ufficio di Washington, dove ha conosciuto Robert Kennedy.

Dopo la campagna elettorale, Donald Wilson fu nominato vice direttore della United States Information Agency (USIA) ed ha servito sotto i presidenti John F. Kennedy e Lyndon B. Johnson. Nel 1989 si è ritirato come Corporate Vice President-Public Affairs presso Time Inc. Nel 1991, insieme a James L. Greenfield, ex vice direttore del New York Times, ha fondato la Independent Journalism Foundation, una organizzazione no profit impegnata nel promuovere la libertà dei media nell’Europa Orientale e Centrale e nel Sudest Asiatico.
